“I’m Excited To Speak To Tonight”

Every friday night, our youth ministry God’s Anointed Now Generation gets together for a powerful youth service here in San Diego. Just recently we moved our services from Wednesday to Friday nights, let me tell you it has been phenominal! I love it when I see young people come and get challenged in their faith for God. Tonight we are in store for yet another exciting service the message the Lord has placed in my heart is on the subject of “Writing your destiny: Its a second part to last weeks message “When God writes your story”

The goal tonight is to envision our young people to write their goals and dreams down and create the plan to acheive them. In the book of Habakkuk chapter 2 verse 2 the passage reads  Write the vision And make it plain on tablets, That he may run who read it, For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie Though it tarries, wait for it;  Because it will surely come,  It will not tarry

Its plain and clear that God wants us to have goals and acheive them. There are some big plans in store for our lives, but in order for us to acheive greatness we must identify with a God given plan by meeting simple goals to see the vision fulfilled. Also we will need a strong support of family and friends. T-mobile came out with a feature a few years ago called my fave five, which allowed you to program in your top five people that you call all the time. When it comes to fulfilling your God given destiny not only are we going to need the plan from God, but we will need people in our lives that will truly be a support in what want to accomplish. Find the ones that will support  and encourage you  in your walk of faith and you likewise will be a blessing to them.

Take a minute and look at some goals you may have in the next few months or even years. Begin to pray and ask the Lord for the steps you need to accomplish what you want to do for him…..

The Great Author

Growing up one of my favorite childhood memories is when me and some of the neighborhood kids would get together and hang out until we are called for dinner and talk about “nothing”. Yeah you know those kind of talks where you pretty much cover everything from insects to becoming a lawyer and marrying the most prettiest girl in school (lol). It was those old hangs out on the curb on Taylor st, where your imagination can run wild. I guess if you can give it a title or describe I would call it story time in the hood lol. You know now that I look back and think about some of the stories we shared, we had alot of dreams and adventures that were yet to be explored in life.

Thinking it about today, many of us can  dream big in our faith. What I love about God is that he has something prepared for us and has a great plan for our lives. Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future..

I know sometimes we feel that God can’t give us a chance because maybe we made a mistake, gave up on our dreams or we were not fully surrendered to him and his will. But when you think about how uniquely you and I created he knew exactly what the future would hold for us. In Hebrews 12:2 the bible says Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

See, when you look at our lives we have a great story to tell and we have an awesome author who daily writes about you and I. Take a moment today to reflect on how good God is. I look it at like this Let God write your story……..

Attitude is Everything!

One of my most famous stops is circle K, every morning I like to stop and get me a nice cup of coffee.I honestly think that this coffee is just a tad better than starbucks. ( Shoot me later) Just to let you know that I am such a morning person and I love waking up early and enjoying the peace of the morning. As I walk into circle K there is a lady that works there that  just seems to have a slight edge over me when it comes to being perky in the mornings. I don’t know what it is but I like her attitude in the morning always welcoming customers and enjoying conversations with them. To some this could be annoying, but this stands out this morning to me because when you think about how we must live our lives as Christians,Everything is a reflection of our attitude and you never know how you can impact someone else.

You know the famous quote “ Your Attitude determines your altitude” This is so true, where ever you may be at today. Your attitude will determine your course throughout the day. I look at it like this my attitude is an extension of my faith and when people ask me how I can be so positive, I just let them know that its God’s spirit that empowers me  to have a great attitude on life.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I love this scripture because this is the foundation of a great attitude> My question for us today is how can we adjust our attitude to live a great life for Jesus………

No Burnout in 2011

Ok! Here we go, we are exactly 12 days into the new year and you have to tell yourself its the new me. Better yet, It’s a fresh you,This is around the time where you must look at your goals and say ok here we go how we gonna get there or what is it going to take to do this. Setting goals are important for the new you this time of the year, looking into the year I’m amazed on how time is going to fly because of how my calendar is getting filled fast.I mean this is the year where I’m going to get married WOW!!!!! But Proper planning will prevent ‘Burnout”

You know a good goal to have is to prevent “Burnout in 2011″

What Causes Burnout? Burnout has many causes. They fall into the main categories relating to job structure, lifestyle features, and individual personality characteristics and even ministry pressure. One way that can prevent a breakdown or burnout is exercise, thats right the E word. I mean you don’t have to be a professional bodybuilder to go to the gym. For me a nice little workout gets my mind off things and it does relax me. Experts say that exercise has proven to reduce stress and also relaxes the body and mind.

I know it gets hectic throughout our lives, But the bible clearly states that we are the temple of the Holy Spirit, and I believe God wants to take care of our bodies and to really look unto living a healthy and strong life for him. One of my goals in 2011 is to exercise regularly and help reduce stress and burnout, don’t get me wrong God will give us strength. But we need to do our part and take care of ourselves which means we strive to take care of ourselves.

1st Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

I would like to hear from you , give me some thoughts preventing burnout. Thanks…Tim

Out with the old In with the New ……

What a great weekend!!! Friday night I spoke to our youth ministry and it was amazing, so many young people came out and experienced God. The focal point was the afterglow we had after the service, young people were broken and seeking God for their lives in 2011. You  know one of my goals was to go into the new year and really kick it off with a God-given momentum.

I have been really challenged to impart into these young people and to really see the plan of God unfold within their lives. You know sometimes our focus and vision can be blurred at times due to a lack of passion. But, God will always remind you about the passion you have in your heart to do great things for him. This weekend we had a bonfire and we challenged the young people to come and throw some things in the fire that would signify their past mistakes and to really start the new year fresh and have their focus set on the Lord.

It was a beautiful experience to see young people throw away their past mistakes and items that symbolized the things that distracted them from their faith in Christ. You know seeing these young people take a step of faith really opened me to really put away all things that distract me and to put God first. It was truly an eye opener..

Renewing your faith is always going to take commitment and dedication. This morning lets look at some things that can distract our faith and do what we need to do to let go of them and renew our passion for Jesus.

2nd Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

Is it time for an UPGRADE

This past holiday season walking through the malls bombarded with sales it was crazy. Going by a kiosk there was a young man who had notice me carrying my cell phone and had asked me if I wanted to upgrade my phone. Of course I picked up my hand and showed him my phone and revealed to him that it was thee iPhone 4.

Ha-ha-ha I already was ahead of the game in a sense but he came back at me and said that the NEW iPhone had came out just in time for Christmas. Hmm, I said “really, there’s a new iphone” He said “No” Just the updated phone is now out.

It seems like there’s an update or upgrade to everything. Every time you go through drive-thru the clerk is always asking if you would like to go large, or how about when ordering cable and they ask if you would like to upgrade your package. I feel we live in an upgrade society.

But what about our faith, have you ever asked yourself how can I upgrade my walk with the  Lord. People upgrade for many reasons. But it when comes to our walk with the Lord, God will always  challenge us to grow deeper in him. Meaning that as we serve him and want to grow and mature in our faith our hearts must be ready to upgrade our commitment to him. Upgrading your commitment can mean many things to you such as a stronger bible reading plan, more time in prayer, get more active within your church or even share your faith with others. Whatever the need may be there will always be a call to upgrade our faith daily. Jesus said in Luke 9:23 Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.

Let’s take a moment today and share with God our desire to grow in commitment for him. Let’s Upgrade our faith..:)
